Here is the best way to make a mouse trap that doesn’t hurt the mouse. All you need is good bait. It is a myth that mice like cheese: Some say the myth started in France when the cooks would steal cheese and blame it on the mice. Mice really like fruits and nuts. I’ve had great results with both raisins and peanut butter.
The idea behind this harmless mouse trap is simple: lure the mouse into a tube positioned over the edge of a counter. When the mouse’s weight is in the tube and not over the counter, it falls into a box waiting below. To ensure the mouse stays safe, provide some cushioning in the box to create a soft enough landing for the mouse.

Materials:

*toilet paper or paper towel tube
        *peanut butter
        *a few raisins
        *tape
        *two quarters
        * plastic container with high sides (an emptied trash can works great)
*old t-shirt, rags, or old newspaper

Tools:

        none

Steps:

1. Place peanut butter inside the toilet paper tube at one end, about the size of a quarter.

2. Tape two quarters on the other end of the tube. This is meant to counter the weight of the peanut butter.

3. Balance the tube on the edge of the counter, peanut butter side out.

4. Place plastic bin under the tube.

5. Place an old t-shirt inside the container to create a soft landing. Make sure you add enough to break the mouse’s fall, but not so much that it can climb out of the bin.

6. Add a few raisins on the counter near the tube to lure the mouse towards the peanut butter bait.
